Surprised to see the bottle was damaged.

After receiving shipment, I was out of country for a week. I was surprised when I took a closer look, the bottle had a large chip along the lip. The canister seemed to be intact, giving no other indication of damage except to the heavy plastic wrapping which was also torn at the top. Can you explain? I have pics.
